Overheard in Front Of The TV...

The eerily simian David Gregory* was needling Sen. Gillibrand (D-Imwit) about her prior 100% NRA approved voting record as a representative from Possum Hollow in upstate New York.

Being a politician, the only vertebrate† more flexible than a housecat, she changed direction 180° inside her own skin and said "That's how I know this bill is going to work! This isn't about the NRA! We need to yammer blather Bloomberg talking point straw purchasesneed to be illegal trafficking and et cetera!"
Kirsten Gillbrand: *emoting on Meet The Press about 'mothers who lost their children'*

Me (yelling): "You can't legislate with your glands, honey!"

RX (disgusted): "She doesn't have anything else to legislate with."
*Dude would take damn little makeup to play Dr. Zaius, is all I'm saying.
As a commenter has noted, the idea that politicians are, in fact, vertebrates has not been proven by experiment and is at this point considered a fairly sketchy hypothesis.
A current hobbyhorse of Gillibrand's, since her name is attached as cosponsor to a bill that would make straw purchases double-secret illegal.

Hey! I'm from Possum's Hollow...I mean Ms. Gillibrand's former district.

"...vertebrate..."

I'll believe that when you dissect one in front of me.

But that sounds like so much fun, I may have to withhold judgement until you've dissected a representative sample. 537 or so is a nice round number. Plus let's see, the city council of Portland ME comes to another eight...

You don't want to leap to any conclusions and judge before all the facts are in, is all I'm saying.

My best friend has a brother that lives in upstate New York. Said brother is a Flaming Liberal, but also owns what some newsreader would characterize as an "arsenal" of firearms. The aforementioned brother experiences no cognitive dissonance when pounding the metaphorical table in favor of victim disarmament, though. Because he is reasonable and responsible, unlike anyone to his political right. He probably also considers himself a font of "common sense", about which we have been hearing so much lately.

She's a Marxist. "I have my principles. And if you don't like them, I have others."

That was Julius Henry not Karl. And here we are, in the land of the spree and the home of the knave.

The two most well known straw purchasers in America are Bloomberg and Holder. Why should the rest of us pay for their crimes?

Gillibrand is a political whore. She began caving to Bloomberg as soon as she was appointed to Hillary Clinton's senate seat.

Thing is, as the reportage of the time indicated, even Bloomberg didn't like her for so eagerly throwing aside her pro-gun record in pursuit of her current gig.

I don't watch that stuff, that way I still have a TV when the program is over... Just sayin...

When Hillary's Senate Stepping Stone opened up, Gillibrand jumped so fast and far over to the Dems that she qualified for the next John Carter Movie.

This has not one damn thing to do with GUNS. Its about CONTROL of the people. Of what we think ,say and do. The first thing "they" must do is disarm the slaves. You watch Tamara, Cal. and NY. will be talking about the danger of people with knifes, Bows & arrows, swords, axe's and wrong thinking next. Anyone who is not wholly subservient will be a "mental defective". Bet ya' a shinny new penny that religion and free speech are next on the list of stuff to ban after weapons.

As I so often read over at WRSA: doesn't appear we'll be voting our way out of this.

I really don't want that to be true but it seems the other side won't have it any other way.

I know we're cautioned not to dehumanize our opposition lest we become monsters ourselves but this bunch has so little in common with what I see as humanity.

Scott J,

"As I so often read over at WRSA: doesn't appear we'll be voting our way out of this."

I've been saying that for years too. Where he and I differ is that I don't think there's much likelihood of armed civil war in the foreseeable future. It's certainly possible, but that's not how I'd bet. (And looking around at some of my "allies", I'm not sure I'd want to live in their paradise any more than the other side's anyway.)

I fully expect to spend my declining years in a sort of Sweden or Great Britain, but with NASCAR and slightly better gun laws. I'll speak against it and vote against it as long as I can, and I'll shoot back if they make me, but there's always a strong bias towards the status quo.

'Course, there was a strong bias towards the status quo in 1775, 1860, and 1914, too, so one never knows.

She sent her child into a kill zone every Monday through Friday. Eventually it was going to catch up with reality. Gun free zone=kill at will.

I tend to take TL Davis' dystopian view of things.

I realized with the election results last year there's now a better than insignificant chance I will be killed or imprisoned by this government for refusing to comply with their collectivist agenda.

As the father of a 7 and 5 year old this makes me weepy sometimes but if I fail to resist I weep for the future I consign them to.

No matter how it plays out it seems we are going to live the "interesting times" curse.

Actually Tam, I'm thinking the time comparision most apt about now is 1773 or so; c.f. Powder Alarm etc. I have zero confidence in this administration's ability NOT to send "the Regulars" out to Concord and Lexington and I beleive Capt Parker is out there, somewhere...

Does that mean Eric Holder will have to arrest himself?

WHEW, managed to type "arrest" instead of the other word he could do to himself...
